Punch out is an industry standard linking software which links business systems to catalogues so that you can seamlessly order from inside your own financial system.
Many of the large providers support punch out, like SAP, Oracle, Sage and our system Microsoft Business Central.
So what are the advantages of punching out from your ordering system as opposed to logging on directly to the web portal?
The advantages of Punching Out are at two levels.
Level 1:
The products and prices from the uniform portal are downloaded automatically into your system, enabling products to be ordered without using the web.
Orders are automatically punched out into our order processing system.
As the order is being raised inside your financial system, this is where your budgets are controlled.
Punch out benefits
Level 2:
A more advanced option of Punch Out allows your buyer to log onto our portal through your financial system.
All logons and passwords are controlled by your system along with budgets.
Orders are created in the portal, with all the benefits that the uniform portal has to offer. The portal holds the order in draft and sends a requisition order to your system for approval and an official Purchase Order reference.
Once the purchase order reference is received in the uniform portal, the draft order is processed and the order is despatched.
We would recommend a level 2 integration, as you retain the benefits of the uniform management system with the security and control of your financial package.
