Application Methods Explained

When it comes to garment customisation, Peter Drew Workwear have all the experience and knowledge to give you the best possible finish. We continually invest in top quality machinery providing you with a range of techniques for logo applications.

We want your branded garments to look the best they can for a long time. The longevity of this high-quality finish will depend on the branding technique you choose. Different materials and fabric weights will impact your decision. The following guide will help you make the right choice of what method of customisation is best for you.

Embroidery

Embroidery allows you to add long-lasting logos to your clothing or accessories. This is ideal if you want to create professional work uniforms with a strong identity.

When adding a logo to your garment via embroidery, a metal frame is placed onto the garment. A backing material is placed on the back of the branding area to stabilise the garment while the logo is stitched on. The whole embroidery process is carried out by a computerised embroidery machine. We use only the best Madeira threads and Barudan embroidery machines to guarantee the highest quality result. As well as being very reliable, machine embroidery is quick, which means big jobs can be completed in a short space of time. Once the design file is created, it simply needs to be fed into the embroidery machine, which will get to work.

Embroidery works best on polo shirts, business shirts/blouses, aprons/tabards, jackets & headwear.

Transfer

Transfers are extremely durable, retain their sharp colours and detail, and will last the lifetime of the garment. We produce a wide range of transfers to meet specific and more general requirements. This technique is ideal if you want to create unique and complex designs using extremely vivid colours.

Transfers are applied to your garments using a heat press. Your logo will be screen printed onto special wax coated transfer paper. Once the garment has been positioned under the heat press, your logo is positioned carefully, and the machine will use pressure and heat to apply. In most cases, the backing paper is peeled off immediately revealing a completed customised garment. We can apply to many different materials; Flexothane, Goretex, PU Polyester, Dartex, Dritex, Eski Tex, and many more.

Transfers work best on outdoor & waterproof clothing, including hi-vis vests & anoraks.

Encapsulated Badges

Encapsulated Badges are durable with a wipe clean finish for the harsher working environment. The logo is printed on the inner side of the clear PVC ensuring that it is not affected by abrasion. Welded edges give a stylish finish and add to the durability. There are a range of standard sizes available with the most common being 125x45mm & 250x100mm.

The badge can be sewn directly to garments, inserted inside plastic pockets, or provided with a Velcro hook backing. We supply several items with plastic pockets or Velcro loop already on. Check the item descriptions or contact us for more details.

Encapsulated badges work best on tactical vests, body armour, outdoor clothing, hi-vis vests & anoraks.

Woven Badges

Ideal for detailed designs, woven badges are produced on a loom, thereby allowing for greater clarity of your image and text. The threads can be pantone matched and the badge has a smooth, even surface. Badges are produced with an overlocked edge and are ideal for sewing directly to garments.

Woven badges work best on polo shirts, business shirts/blouses, aprons/tabards, jackets & headwear.

Ties and Cravats

A high quality, custom tie is the perfect way to show your corporate identity. Logos can be translated very successfully onto fabric and there are different processes and finishes to suit. Fibres are interwoven to incorporate your design into the very fabric of the tie giving a polished and luxurious finish.

The first step is to get the perfect design. Our free design service can show you the options and make refinements until you are happy. A woven tie has your design woven into the fabric of the tie. This is a very high-quality process, not to be confused with embroidering the design on top. The fabric is flat with your design including any stripes and the background colour completely woven into the fabric. This fabric is then made up into your custom ties that are hardwearing and will last for years. We can guide you through the technicalities of translating your design onto fabric.

Epaulettes

Epaulettes are an important part of many uniforms, and are ideal for a variety for services, ranging from the fire and rescue to the police and more. They are also suitable for a variety of other authoritative positions and are a great way of providing trustworthy identification. The quality of the epaulettes should reflect the uniform, as they are essential in conveying rank, authority and seniority. Therefore, we take care when producing your items, in order to deliver the standard of quality you deserve.
