Artwork Guidelines

Please review our artwork guidelines to ensure you receive the highest quality customisation and avoid unnecessary delays to your order.

Your logos are required in certain file formats for setting up embroidery, transfers etc. If you do not have the logo in the correct format, we can convert (re-draw) your file for a small fee. This is uncommon as we often can find the logos online in the format required or redraw with font packs we already own. Of course, you will be notified and ask for confirmation prior to any conversion work taking place.

Print

Vector AI files and EPS files:

The preferred file types are Vector Adobe Illustrator and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS). To differentiate between vectors and other image formats, zoom in on the image. If it is a vector, you will see no distortion around the edges.

Vector images are more scalable than bitmap images. When a bitmap image is scaled up you begin to see the individual pixels that make up the image. When a vector image is scaled up, the image is redrawn using the mathematical formula, so the resulting image is just as smooth as the original.

Do not save a bitmap file as an AI or EPS file as this is still a bitmap and would be unusable. PDF files can contain the vector image we require. Either zoom in and check for smooth edges or send it to us to check for you.

Pantone spot colours:

All colours should be converted to spot colours. Adobe Illustrator can do this for you. If colours are supplied as either RGB or CMYK we can change to the best pantone spot colour equivalent for you for free. This will require approval before any customisation can begin.

Embedding fonts and converting fonts to paths:

All fonts must be converted to paths. This means that we do not need the font packs contained in your vector image file as the text has been converted to a graphic. If this is not done, then when we receive the file and do not have the equivalent font, we will not be able to match your artwork.

Adobe PDF files:

PDF files must be created from vector files. Do not save a bitmap file as a PDF file as this is still a bitmap and would be unusable.

Embroidery

High resolution JPG, BMP, TIF, PSD, EPS, AI:

All file types are accepted if the resolution is high quality. We convert the image file sent into a embroidery format called DST. A DST file is a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) file. It stores instructions for stitching an embroidery design and includes codes that tell the machine to stop, jump, and trim, which directs the sewing needle. Once digitised, your embroidered artwork will be held on file for future orders.

Peter Drew Workwear will digitise your artwork into the required embroidery machine file format for free.
