Sustainability

As a company, we are dedicated to ensuring
that we are environmentally conscious.

Our Principles

At Peter Drew’s, we recognise the harm caused to the environment by not disposing of waste materials in an environmentally friendly way. We commit to improving sustainability in our business by recycling all cardboard, paper and glass that we come into contact with throughout the company’s business processes.

In addition to our commitment to recycling, we aim to reduce the use of non-recyclables in our supply chain to zero and trade with suppliers who have the same goals.

We will evaluate our efforts and the impact that we are making on the environment and create targets to improve our performance and the performance of those we trade with.

Our Objectives

Our sustainability journey is ongoing, and we’ve set meaningful goals to guide us forward. Some include:

  • Provide more direction to customers and staff about choosing sustainable workwear.

  • Reduce water mains usage to zero.

  • Export more electrical power than we consume.

  • Upcycle and recycle used pallet wood into planters for our trees.

  • Reduce the amount of paper used within the business to zero.

  • Use at least 50% recycled materials in all of our own brand garments.

Our Achievements

A few of our achievements include -

Reduce:

  • Reduce paper by utilising electronic marketing - for all communications electronically replacing paper documents.

  • Ensure lights, aircon / heating is switched off when not in use / not needed.

Reuse:

  • Reuse packaging – e.g., bubble wrap from other deliveries, to reduce waste.

  • Donate unused items / clothing which can no longer be sold, to charity.

Recycle:

  • Recycle all cardboard, glass and paper used. Our partner Grundon waste, recycles 1 tonne of carboard a month for us.

  • The bags and boxes that we use as packaging are both recycled materials and are recyclable.

Other:

  • Installed 50kWh of solar cells and we are now exporting power to the local grid. This summer we have produced 13MWh or enough to make about 40,000 pots of tea!

  • Installed heat pumps to replace our electrical heating. They multiply the power used by 400%, reducing consumption by 75%.

  • We are a member of Sedex.
